The Style Sisters

Navy white and gold tablescape birthday dinner.

My niece recently turned 21 and we had a family dinner for her so I used my Navy and white striped fabric that I used for my daughters wedding that you might remember here. I just love being able to use and reuse things from my daughters weddings. More bang for the buck I say.

I brought out my gold goblets to bring a little sparkle to the table. Recently I took out my mirror in my dining room and hung up this giganctic chalkboard for a fun look. My daughter Emily made me the gold stirped vase for my birthday so I used that and added two others and palced them down the center of the table with fresh flowers.

Maybe some of you remember these cute napkin rings that I used to sell here on my blog
I saved some for myself and used peach and navy ones that worked perfectly.

Easy Small Wedding Reception Idea

I recently put together a little wedding reception for some friends.
It turned out really nice. After having done large weddings for my daughters...I think small and intimate might be the way to go. A lot less stress, money and time for sure!

Easy wedding cake with fresh flowers, Wedding cake idea, Small wedding reception ideas
I purchased the cake from our grocers bakery and added some fresh flowers to the top as well as a wreath of fresh mint from my garden all around the edge of the cake. Tip: make sure you don't use poisonus flowers like Hydrangeas...ask me how I know :( Yes this is cake #2

I made lemonade using Country Time powedered mix.
Tip- Add some fresh lemon slices and fresh raspberries to make it look pretty. I also added some colorful French Macaroons on a square white plate for color.

Flowers- I bought 2 bouquets of flowers from Costco and seperated them into 3 different bouqets two for the table and 1 for side table Plus I used some for the cake...more bang for the buck!
Tip: Always incorporate some fresh fruit on the table and place the fruit in a pretty bowl.

I have a large chalkboard in my kitchen nook and had my daughter write in a pretty font....Love is Sweet.

Super simple but pretty!

Weighloss Journey- Emily's new blog

Weightloss Journey!
It is so tough isn't it?
I can't loose any pounds these day no matter what I do. It seems like all women struggle at one point or another to loose some weight and feel better. It is a REAL STRUGGLE!
My beautiful youngest daughter has started a new blog about her life and about her starting her weight loss journey.
Emily is funny and real! I think you can all relate to her very open and honest feelings...I know I do!  It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there and take photos especially when you don't feel good about how you look. I am so proud of her no matter what she does or how she looks and of course I think she is beautiful inside and out....because she is!

Emily is one of the most kind hearted, fun loving, fiercely loyal as well and full of spice and vinegar  you will ever come across. I know you will want to follow along as she goes through this journey.

If you get a chance hop on over and show her some love.

Red White and Blue Tablescape- Centerpiece Wednesday

Repost of Centerpiece Wednesday!
I love the month of July....for me it is warm weather and what I call summer red white and blue celebrations with family! I did this table last year and loved how it turned out I have decided to showcase it again :)
Vroom vroom.....little kids and big kids alike will get a kick out of a tricycle on the table for the centerpiece! A small vase of posies sitting on the seat and big American flags leaning through the handle bars is just plain fun! For more red white and blue centerpiece ideas you can check out this post Red White and Blue Centerpiece ideas and check out these fun backyard games

I made these cute little paper popcorn holders for "small fries" to hold their popcorn and placed them in my wooden silverware caddy to serve.

Using a flat red basket, I placed my white napkins cinched with red, white or blue napkin rings on them.
Use what you have...I used these white cups to hold my red and white silverware for easy grabbing. I went around the house and looked for any red or white dishes, candle items, chargers, bowls etc...and it all came together.

Don't forget to use the trunk of the trike for serving root beer or your favorite beverage.

For a Memorial Day dinner or brunch..you could add old photos in frames of loved ones that have passed on to really think about and highlight them this Memorial Day.

Roses are in bloom!

Can a girl ever have too many roses?

I snipped a few roses that have recently blossomed in my yard and plunked them in a vase... Wow they not only look beautiful but they smell heavenly!

I think the reason I have so many more blooms this year is because we have had  so much rain.

Peachy-pink salmon colored roses are my favorite!

Hope you are enjoying your Thursday!

Gourmet Smore Party!

Fun Gourmet Smore party for the whole family!
We reused these darling printed menus that my friend Kim had printed on photo paper that show lots of different s'more recipes.
gourmet Smore party, smore party, Smores,
To start with we used lots of different flavored graham crackers and some waffle crackers...yummmmy!
gourmet Smore party, smore party, Smores,
My sister Tiffany used all kinds of flavored marshmallows like blueberry, ice cream cone, caramel, chocolate, strawberry and they were all purchased from Walmart.
My daughter Madeline figured out a way to display these mini chalkboards by using a clothes pins clipped to the bottom edge and laying it on its side...so stinkin cute!

Above the table we hung white paper lanterns and red white and blue paper lanterns

I had forgotten that My daughter and I made these red white and blue decorations for Tiffany a few years ago so when she brought out the box of them we decided to use them as little covers for her chandelier...pretty cute huh?!

First I was hoping they would fit inside the frames but they were too big, then my mom said hey what if we clip them onto the frames! Brilliant idea..Tiff had these huge silver clips and they worked like a charm!

A huge glass apothecary jar held giant marshmallows in the center of the table. A friend of Tiff's made these adorable 4th of July pinwheels that we used on the tables as well.
